Located in the heart of the Aulps Valley in Haute Savoie, Morzine is a resort that boasts vast expanses of unspoilt land dedicated to escape and relaxation and a ski area ideal for families.
An authentic family-oriented getaway
The opening of the Grand Hôtel, the first hotel built here in the 1920s, saw the village of Morzine first open up to tourism and then gradually turn towards winter sports. The Pléney cable car was inaugurated in 1934, marking the launch of the ski resort.
Winter sports continued to develop, prompting the people of Morzine to look for a way of expanding the ski area. That was when the Avoriaz mountain range on Morzine’s doorstep first came to be used, adding greatly the available skiing. Morzine-Avoriaz’s close proximity to Chapéry and Les Crozets makes the current Portes du Soleil ski area even vaster.
Morzine acts as a gateway to a ski area that is accessible to everyone and boasts no fewer than 285 ski slopes, covering 650 km. There is more than enough skiing to ensure kids and grown-ups alike can experience the joys of the mountains in the best conditions.
